DOUGLAS I. BUSCH

Frank Langen of Gallery 169 is pleased to host “H20,” an exhibition of works by artist/photographer Douglas I. Busch. Included in the show are eight 12” x 20” black and white photographs, four 14” x 17” color prints from his Italian Gardens series, and 12 digital color images in 24” x 24” and 36” x 72” formats mounted between aluminum and plexiglass from his Silent Waves series. All are limited editions, and all are archival.

The black and white photographs of the Pacific Ocean are representative of Busch’s signature large format work. The Italian Gardens prints display Busch’s expertise in his control of color and light as well as his masterful use of digital technology in capturing landscapes. The artist takes the large digital color prints one step beyond to Rothko-esque bursts of luminous abstraction.

Busch’s work has been exhibited extensively in both the U.S. and Europe and is included in numerous museum collections, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, LACMA, MOCA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Atlanta; Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; and the Denver Art Museum.
